Chemical & Physical Change PBL
Overview
During this Project Based Learning (PBL) you will discover what chemical and physical changes are and the differences between a mixture and a solution. Watch the How to Video to learn more about how to work through the PBL.
Progress
Click on the progress sheet button to enter your information on a spreadsheet and place an X in the assignment area as you complete them. This will be a way to track your progress.
Directions
Below you will find several link to websites and assignments attached to each. Additionally, there will be screen cast videos, web resource links, rubrics, a PowerPoint template and detailed directions. Make sure to read the directions before you begin an assignment!
Assignment 1
Directions: Make a new entry into your science notebook Titled: Chemical & Physical Changes and work with along with the video lesson to create your notes. Update your table of contents when you are done!
Assignment 2
Conduct the virtual lab and take notes in your science notebook by listing the examples given in a t-chart. One side identifying chemical change examples and the other identifying physical change examples.
Have foldable printed-out and ready to transfer examples from virtual lab before you begin the lab.
Assignment 3
Watch the BrainPop video and answer the questions on the worksheet. Make sure to watch the video on how to fill-out the worksheet since it will be on Google Drive as a document you share instead of a piece of paper you would hand in. If you can't access your Google account please make your teacher aware so they can print you out a hard copy to turn in.

Assignment 5
Work through the virtual lab on solutions/mixtures and complete the Quiz
Assignment 6
Assignment 6 is the were you will take all you have learned and come up with a 3 part project to demonstrate that you understand chemical / physical change and mixtures / solutions.
Part 1: You will create a Google Presentation where you will...
> Identify what chemical and physical change are.
> Provide 3 examples of each supported by a picture and an explanation identifying why it is a chemical or physical change.
> Identify what a mixture and solution are
> Provide 2 examples of each supported by a picture and an explanation identifying why it is a mixture or solution.
Part 2: You will create a demonstration where you will present to the class...
> One example of a physical change and one example of a chemical change.
> Note: All chemical change demonstrations need to be approved by your teacher.
> One example of a solution and one example of a mixture.
